Ah, sweet lunacy. Tis the rollercoaster of introspection, that is my mind, that inspired this song. This was the last song I recorded and added to the album after all others had been mixed and mastered. It was literally the one that almost "got away"
I felt it needed to be expressed, as I took a look around and saw intelligent friends being labeled "know it all's" creative friends being called "unrealistic", aspiring entrepreneurs being labeled "scattered or flighty"
I've been there myself, often questioning my decisions and actions, but largely because I bought into someone elses view of me. It's hard keeping my own negative voices contained so it certainly makes sense not to add more fuel to the fire and take on another person's perspective.
This song is about contradictions. Yes it is sarcastic, but that's what made it so delicious! I was looking at two sides of the coin. This is a song about being many things rolled into one and that how we define ourselves is based on what we believe to be true
So what to believe? The jury is out as to what the "truth" is, but I think if you are living your life with authenticity and integrity, if you are reaching for something that will bring you joy or create joy in the lives of others, if you're not causing any pain to anyone else or yourself...than why not believe the best about yourself?
